FAQ's

Can tickets be purchased at the gates, or only at Computicket?

Tickets can be purchased on the day only from one site, i.e. at the entrance to the main festival area in close proximity to Royal Natal Yacht Club. It is, however, advisable to purchase tickets in advance through Computicket to minimise ticketing queues on the day. No tickets will be available for purchase at the N Shed entrance via Quayside Road.

Is the ticket a day ticket or valid for the 2 days of the festival?

Each ticket is a day ticket valid only for the date reflected, i.e. either the Saturday or Sunday. If attending on both days, a separate ticket will need to be purchased for each day. Tickets are R30 per day for adults and R15 per day for children under the age of 13, while kids under 3 enter free. The ticket allows access to activities at the N Shed cruise terminal, as well as all activities at the main festival area including the live entertainment on stage.

How do I become a vendor at the festival?

Kindly contact the festival organisers on 031 564 8338 during office hours or email info@durbanportfestival.co.za for more information.

How can local artists get involved in the line-up?

The festival line-up has already been finalised. Please look out for opportunities at future port festivals.

Can we enter the festival with our picnic baskets and cooler boxes?

The following items are prohibited:

  • Cooler boxes and picnic baskets
  • Alcohol
  • Weapons

No outside food or beverages of any kind may be brought into the Durban Port Festival. Searches will be conducted at the security checkpoints. Food, beverages and alcohol may only be purchased from the wide range of vendors available at the event.

Why can’t we bring in our own food and beverages?

Ticket prices for the festival have been kept low. Patrons are asked to support the wide range of vendors and stallholders by only purchasing food, beverages and alcohol from inside the festival areas. This is because the Durban Port Festival is also a platform for local businesses and vendors to reach this market and to grow their businesses. It also helps us to uphold safety and security at the event.

What food and beverage vendors will be available on sale?

The festival’s lifestyle village will offer food and drinks for all tastes, including popular outlets such as RocoMamas, Nandos and Galitos, food trucks, local stallholders, a gin pop up bar, a wine pop up bar, a sushi bar and beer garden.

Why are picnic baskets not allowed at the festival?

As indicated above, patrons are asked to support the wide range of vendors and stallholders by only purchasing food, beverages and alcohol from inside the festival areas.

Can we bring in blankets, chairs, gazebos, umbrellas, etc?

Blankets, picnic mats and folding chairs are welcome in order to ensure your comfort at Festival Island. However, gazebos and picnic umbrellas will not be permitted as they may obstruct the view of other patrons. Please opt for sun hats, caps and sunscreen instead.

What vessels will be open to the public for tours and boarding?

The South African Navy has confirmed participation but will confirm their specific vessels closer to the time. Transnet National Ports Authority will also have some of its tugboats open to the public for tours.

Where should we park?

As the Durban Port Festival takes place in close proximity to the busy Durban CBD, patrons are asked to make use of the Park and Ride arrangements and complimentary shuttles, as street parking and other parking within the port precinct is extremely limited.

Please refer to our useful map with parking and shuttle information (link).

How do we access the different areas of the festival without vehicle transport?

Festival goers are advised that the Port of Durban areas showcasing festival activities do cover a large area and there is a fair distance between N Shed and the main festival island. Patrons with children and older persons are asked to make use of the complimentary shuttle transport running between these areas.
